A host family is one that has at least one child of 17 years old or younger and who still lives with them, and who wants to receive an au pair for a period of time. The au pair helps the family to take care of the little ones in the house, in addition to carrying out small household chores. However, the au pair should not be considered as an employee, rather it is a new member of the family for a certain time. The au pair must receive free accommodation and food in addition to a payment, in exchange. The au pair must also be offered a single room.

The au pair stay is carried out with the aim of a cultural exchange for both parts, in addition to the au pair better language level of the country of residence, this will be possible by attending a language course.
