Cost Of The Stay Au Pair

The costs assumed by au pairs or host families change depending on the country of residence. However, here we show you an approximate of the general expenses:

EXPENSES OF THE HOST FAMILY

Pay: The amount of pay that is given to the au pair is different in each country.

Family expenditure: It should be taken into account that there will be an increase in daily meals that must be offered to the au pair, as well as an increase in water, gas, electricity, etc.

Intermediation expenses: There are no intermediary expenses in AuPairClick. Simply the host family must be a Premium Member to have a more personal communication with the au pairs.

Telephone: The au pair must take charge of paying his personal calls. However, if the family decides to give the au pair a mobile phone in order to locate it, they can do so.

Return trip: Like the language course, the family may or may not support the au pair with the travel expenses. However, our advice is that the family also support the au pair with their return trip to show their satisfaction with the stay.

Language course: In all countries it is not compulsory for the family to pay for the language course of the au pair, it is up to the family to decide whether or not to support the au pair. We advise you to share the cost of the language course.

Transport: In case the au pair must transport the children to school or some of their extracurricular activities, it is the family that must take care of the transportation expenses, ex: gasoline, transport, etc.

Insurance: In some countries, the host family must ensure that the au pair has insurance for their stay: However, it is the family that usually covers all insurance costs.

  • Medical insurance: In case the au pair does not have his own insurance in the country of residence, it is the family who must pay the insurance policy for the au pair.
  • Car insurance: If the au pair will occupy the family car, the host family must include the au pair in the car insurance.
  • It is important to know that in some countries and depending on the circumstances, families can request financial assistance. Such aid exists in the form of tax relief (in Germany) or subsidy (in New Zealand).
